A CALL has gone out to all local entertainers – Bridgwater Carnival Concerts wants you!

Local talented entertainers are being sought by Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival Committee to be ‘front of curtain’ acts at the 2017 carnival concerts.

Auditions for the highly prestigious show will take place at Bridgwater Town Hall on Tuesday, May 23, and vocalists, musicians, comedians, magicians, dancers, and everything in between are wanted to appear in the popular show.

The 12-night variety show which, this year, takes place between Monday, October 2, and Saturday, October 14, is expected to attract a sell-out audience of more than over 4,500.

Malcolm Cattle, president of Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival, said: “We would love to hear from anyone who enjoys performing and thinks they have what it takes to entertain the audience for a five minute slot at this year’s show.

"The auditions can be tough and if last year is anything to go by the judges will have their work cut out selecting the acts to go through to the concerts.”

If you think you have got what it takes and would like to audition apply by contacting Anne on 07917-662218, at a.p.middleton@btinternet.com or by completing an application form on Bridgwater Carnival’s official website.

Forms are also available from the Bridgwater Carnival Centre.

Completed forms need to be e-mailed back to Anne or posted to her at 21 Somerset Road, Bridgwater, Somerset. TA6 5NT.

At the 2016 carnival concerts, successful front of curtain acts included Kirby Warren who took first place in the best single vocalist category, Cameron & Mia and Absolute Pitch who shared the best vocal act (two or more) class, and dance troupes Fox King Dance Academy and Viva La Diva who won the under 17 class and the best song, dance, musical or novelty categories respectively.

This year’s auditions are sponsored by Anderson and Wall.
