MORE than 700 homes were suddenly left without power in Bridgwater this afternoon.

A total of 785 homes in the TA5 area lost power abrubtly at midday due to a high voltage fault, but Western Power have been working to restore supplies and most homes now have their power back on.

As of 12.55pm 239 were still without power in the TA5 area.

A spokesman for Western Power Distribution said: "We have our engineers investigating the problem, it is difficult to say when all the homes will be restored but it is hoped the problem will be sorted by 3pm."

At 2.15pm Western Power Distribution confirmed that power had been restored to all affected homes.
