A HOUSING consultation event regarding plans for 45 new homes in Westonzoyland will be taking place.

Westonzoyland Parish Council and Sedgemoor District Council will be hosting the event on Wednesday, May 3 at the village hall.

It is free, and will open at 3pm, running until 7pm.

Visitors will be able to find out more about plans for new houses, and have the chance to offer feedback on proposals to build 45 new homes on land in Liney Road.

The project, would see at least 40 per cent of new properties provided on an affordable basis specifically for people who have a strong connection with Westonzoyland.

Sedgemoor Affordable Housing development manager, Duncan Harvey, said: “Westonzoyland is an expensive place to live, where housing choice and opportunity and hope for some people does not exist unless something is done.

"Put simply, this event will showcase a potential new housing project which we believe offer genuine hope to local people to access a suitable home, at a price they can afford.

"We would encourage local people, especially anyone looking for an affordable home, to come along to find out more about this exciting project.”

Representatives from Jillings Heynes Planning and their team will be on hand to discuss their housing proposals for the Liney Road land.

Officer’s from Sedgemoor District’s Council’s Affordable Housing Development Team will be present to talk to about affordable housing and how people can apply for this type of housing.

Elected members form the district and parish council’s will be also be attending to gauge reaction to the proposals.

If anyone wants more information on the event, or is unable to come along on the day and would like to talk to someone, they should contact event organiser Esther Carter (Housing Project development officer) at Sedgemoor District Council by calling 01278 435599.
