BRIDGWATER firefighters rushed to Glastonbury after reports of a fire involving a barn and several vehicles.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called at around midnight on April 24 to Common More Drove in Glastonbury after reports of a fire.

Fire engines from Glastonbury, Street, Wells and a Water Carrier from Bridgwater were mobilised to a report of a fire involving a barn and several vehicles.

On arrival, the incident commander confirmed a corrugated iron and timber framed building measuring approx. 10mx5m and two vehicles were well alight.

Crews got to work with a compressed air foam attack jet to extinguish the fire.

A gas cylinder was removed from an adjacent shed but was not involved in fire.

Crews made steady progress using one compressed air foam jet and one  hose reel jet.

Firefighters later confirmed that the fire involved one car, one flatbed transit van, a range of wood and corrugated buildings measuring approx. 20mx5m.

Crews confirmed that five square metres of building was damaged by fire.

The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.
