THE village of Othery flocked to the Village Hall for the Early Easter Fair at the weekend.

The free fair took place between 11am and 2pm on Saturday, March 25 and helped to raise money towards a small storage extension for the village hall.

Stalls included handmade goods made by local crafts people including toys, knitted and sewn items, cards, cakes and handmade paper.

The Village Hall was packed with people trying out the various refreshments on offer included local cider from the family-run Bere company.

Pat Adamson, chairman of the Othery Village Hall management committee, said it had been a big success.

“The event helped raise £488 which will go toward our new extension for the back, and we are hoping with grants from the parish and district councils that will soon go ahead,” she said.

“There were tombolas and a raffle and it was a real community event.”

The next fundraiser is a prize bingo on May 5 with monies split between Parkinson’s UK and the hall fund.
