TRAINING sessions are being offered to members of the public in an effort to get more older people doing Flexercise classes across Sedgemoor.

Flexercise was originally designed to help older people who live in sheltered accomodation or residential homes to exercise but now Somerset Active Living Centre are also using the classes to help rehabilitate people who have physical disabilities, learning difficulties and those recovering from strokes.

Sedgemoor District Council said they are arranging training sessions for people who want to get into Flexercise or need a refresher course.

A spokesman for Sedgemoor District Council said: "Flexercise is a countywide initiative promoting physical and mental health and wellbeing through chair based exercise and activity.

"Sedgemoor District Council is arranging some training for those who wish to know how to run a Flexercise class and some refresher training for those who have already run some classes."

A refresher workshop will take place at Kingsdown Pavilion in Bridgwater,  March 7 from 10am to 12pm.

There will also be a full training workshop on March 28 from 10am to 1pm at the same venue for people who are new to Flexercise.

Tickets cost £10 per person
