A NEW CHAIRMAN of the Somerset Chamber of Commerce has been appointed.

It was announced at the chamber's AGM on November 23 that Greg Saunders would be starting his three-year term.

Mr Saunders replaces the out-going chairman Graham Knight, who Mr Saunders served as vice chairman during his time.

Greg Saunders, a partner at Clarke Willmott LLP in Taunton, said: “I’m looking forward to taking on the new role as Chairman of Somerset Chamber.  Having been on the board as vice chairman for two years, and previously sat on the board of the Black Country Chamber, I’m well versed in the workings of a chamber of commerce.

“As a commercial litigation partner at Clarke Willmott in Taunton, I advise companies both big and small on a variety of matters and my role with the chamber helps me to really understand the issues affecting them and how that might impact on resolving the dispute or making that useful referral.

“I am passionate about helping secure future prosperity for a county that is my adopted home and where my children grow up and are educated. I look forward to working with the chamber team to support and grow a vibrant Somerset economy."

Dale Edwards, Chief Executive of Somerset Chamber of Commerce, said: “I’m delighted that Greg has been elected as the new chairman of Somerset Chamber of Commerce.

"His passion for the chamber and Somerset is clear and I look forward to working in partnership with him and the rest of the board over the coming years including the new board members."
