CHAMPION butcher Malcolm Pyne will be teasing his customers’ tastebuds during British Sausage Week this year.
Each day he’ll be offering them a chance to sample unusually-flavoured sausages at his shop in North Petherton, near Bridgwater - and challenging them to name the mystery ingredients.
And when the correct entries are drawn at the end of each day there’s a prize of two kilos of sausages waiting for the first name out of the hat.
Malcolm has collected a clutch of national and regional awards for his sausages and the business now turns out more than a mile of them a week – enough to stretch into Bridgwater.
Regular favourite flavours with his customers include pork and marmalade, and pork, bacon and black pudding.
But, said Malcolm: “We’re always experimenting with new ideas and the competition will help give us a very good idea of what our customers’ tastes are.”
British Sausage Week, which runs from October 31 to November 6 is now in its 19th year and is an annual celebration of the rehabilitation of the great British sausage as part of the UK food revolution.
