PEOPLE across Somerset have been indulging in a sweet treat or two in aid of charity.

The tasty bakes are in aid of the world's biggest coffee morning for Macmillan Cancer Support.

We've had pictures from Taunton Deane Borough Council, Queen's College and Creech St Michael Village Hall.

A spokesperson from West Somerset Council said: "Our cake was baked by a member of staff at Deane House in Taunton for Macmillan coffee morning.

"Williton fire station had so many cakes they shared theirs with us at West Somerset House."

The Queen's College community pulled together across all ages to take part in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Highgrove Nursery is running its event throughout today (Friday) and it will culminate in a cake sale - everything must go.

Break-time this morning saw our Sixth Form stage their own coffee morning for this most worthy of causes.

Meanwhile, yesterday's (Thursday) event by the Junior School staff raised a whopping £150 for Macmillan.

STUDENTS from Bishop Fox's School held a Macmillan Cake morning to take part in the nationwide event to raise money for charity.

On Friday, September 30, students baked and decorated cakes at home which were then sold during recess.

The students baked up a total of £149.09 for charity.

Steve Summerill, deputy head, said: "It is important that we develop students at Bishop Fox's to be aware of social enterprise and the benefits that charities can make to our lives.

"We are proud to support Macmillan cancer support and obviously I enjoy eating the cakes."

The Creech St Michael coffee morning raised more than £2,000 for Macmillan.

Organiser, Katherine Moore, said: "I would like to thank everyone who came and all those that supported us in raising money for the charity."

In total, £2,3375 was raised.
