A YOUTH football team has kicked off the season in a league above the rest after scoring a partnership with a Bridgwater shopping centre.

Angel Place has become the main sponsor for Wembdon FC U14 Dragons after donating £750, for the club to buy brand new kits for the junior players.

Richard Sewell, who coaches the U14 Dragons players at the newly refurbished playing fields named ‘The Green Wembdon’, said the sponsorship from Angel Place makes for the start of a fantastic season.

“We are incredibly thankful that the shopping centre has teamed up with us,” he said. “ We were in great need of a new kit, so we really appreciate the sponsorship donation and now we will definitely look the part when playing in the Taunton Youth League."

Roger Smith, Angel Place Shopping Centre manager, said he was thrilled the centre was able to offer its support to Wembdon FC U14 Dragons.

He added: “We love being a part of the wider community in Bridgwater.

“This is the first time we have sponsored a local football team, so we are extremely proud to see our logo on the players’ new kits.

"We would like to wish Richard and the rest of the team the best of luck for the upcoming season and we look forward to cheering them on from the sidelines.”
