BBC Children in Need will be back this autumn and this year the team at BBC Somerset are getting ready to tread the boards of the McMillan Theatre in Bridgwater and hold a pantomime in aid of the Charity.

The pantomime is named Carterella, after Breakfast Show presenter Claire Carter, and will be held on Saturday October 15 at the McMillan Theatre.

It will follow the story of a girl who is struggling to find her ‘Mr Right’. Set in Radioland, and written by BBC Somerset presenter Jack Murley, Carterella will go on the search for her Prince Charming while trying to compete with the Ugly Sisters.

The show will also feature many other well-known faces from BBC Somerset and BBC Points West presenter Alex Lovell as the Fairy Godmother.

Local groups the South West School of Dance, Tacchi-Morris Show Choir and the Somerset County Youth Show Choir, will also be supporting the presenters during the performance.

Ready to step into the sparkly shoes of the Fairy Godmother, Alex Lovell said: “I’m thrilled to have been asked to play the Fairy Godmother. I hope that those who love a good panto will come along and support both us and BBC Children in Need, especially as it has been written for the Charity. You’ll certainly see your local news teams in a whole new light!”

Tickets for Carterella will be on sale from Wednesday, September 7 at 8:30am via bbc.co.uk/bbcsomerset and will be £12.50 each. Performances will be held at 4.30pm and 8pm on Saturday, October 15 with all proceeds, after costs going to BBC Children in Need.
