A BRIDGWATER banker is taking on the Tour de Pudsey for BBC Children in Need.

Aaron Davidge, who works in Bridgwater for Lloyds, will be one of 60 colleagues from the bank taking on the 300 mile cycling challenge with the ambition of raising £150,000 between them.

Over three and a half days from September 13-16, Mr Davidge will be cycling from Cardiff to the town of Pudsey in Yorkshire.

Mr Davidge, who works as assistant manager in customer fraud at the Canons House offices, said: "I am very proud to be part of the Tour de Pudsey challenge with my fellow Lloyds Banking Group colleagues.

“I have been a keen cyclist for many years now but even so, the thought of some of the hills we will be climbing on route to Pudsey is quite intimidating. I am going to focus on the impact that our fundraising will have on BBC Children in Need to help motivate our team to complete the challenge together.”

Mr Davidge is one of sixty Lloyds bankers taking part in three teams setting off from London, Edinburgh and Cardiff.

Collectively they are expected to cycle 18,000 miles, burn over 38 million calories and raise £150,000 for the 2016 Children in Need appeal.

Tour de Pudsey is one of Lloyds Banking Group’s signature challenges for its Charity of the Year partnership with BBC Children in Need. The funds raised will help to ensure that children and young people in the UK can have a safe, happy and secure childhood and have the opportunity to reach their potential.

Stuart Beaver, director of partnership & community programmes at Lloyds said: “We are hugely proud of and grateful to our colleagues for their fantastic fundraising for BBC Children in Need. The miles covered by the Tour de Pudsey riders will raise even more money for a great cause, and help towards our ambition to help Britain prosper.”
