SO what's next for Northgate?

As it stands, planning permission has been approved for a new school on the controversial school at the Sedgemoor District Council planning and development committee meeting.

Now that the green light has been passed, construction of the school is set to begin on August 29.

This is the first phase of the development, which is set to be completed by July 2017 and ready for the September intake.

Lead officer, Stuart Martin, said there were four different masterplan options and that they had engaged consultants to investigate these.

Phase two will look at the parking in the area, phase three will focus on commercial marketing, phase four will look at Brewery Field and phase five will be a commercial and leisure complex.

Planning permission for a hotel, a public house and a food store is to be discussed.

The Celebration Mile would be a feature with a wider path and shared use with cycles.

There would be a crossing east-west of the access point, making an established feature of a previous right of way, and pedestrian routes to Blacklands and the town.

This would be re-routed slightly to the west.

Early 2017 would see sale of land to commercial interests
