It’s that time of year again where parents patience and tolerance levels are stretched to the extreme. Yes, it’s school holiday time again. For the next few weeks Mums will be getting stressed by that familiar cry “Mum, what can I eat?” and “Mum, I’m bored” along with “Mum, can I……?”. I’m sure it was like that even when I was at school, although I seemed to spend most of my holidays out on my bike, or just generally playing outdoors, whereas youngsters these days are far more likely to be indoors on their tablets and gaming consoles. Or tracking down Pokemon Go, whatever that means. On the plus side the morning rush hour traffic is much quieter, it always amazes me how much of a difference it does make to the level of traffic on our roads.

As we head into August we are adjusting our schedule at the station very slightly. From 1st I will be starting an hour earlier at 6am, Nick and Sedgemoor Life also move forward by an hour with Mark Painter joining us with each weekday between 2 and 4pm, with Charlie still on from 4. There are a couple more of other new shows in the pipeline as the station continues to grow.

Finally, the answer to last week’s teaser: What opened its doors for the first time in Bridgwater in 1813? The answer was a theatre, although not the Arts Centre! This week’s teaser is this: In what year did Bridgwater first get its own police force? No cheating, I’ll give you the answer in next week’s column. Have a great week.
