THE youngsters in year six at St Joseph's Primary School in Bridgwater will be putting on a show for the town.

Each year the pupils pick a musical to perform for parents and this time round, have written the script themselves.

The pupils, aged 10, opted to put together a script based on back To the Future, and will raise money for charity through the performances, Teacher Mr Craig Bennet said: "These shows are usually a huge success and are very rewarding for their education.

"It is certainly an experience that they will remember for the rest of their lives.

"I am very proud of the children as they are not only performing, but they have also written the show themselves.

"They decided to write a script based upon the impact that Back to the Future has had in popular culture.

"The class have spent the entire year researching information and have created a fantastic script, dedicating a lot of their time to this show."

The pupils have chosen to support The Michael J. Fox Foundation as their charity, which helps those with Parkinson's Disease.

Mr Bennett added: "I am very proud of their decision as they have already raised awareness of Parkinson's within their school.

"They have also raised the money to hire a Delorian time machine replica car for the day to be in the playground for people to take picture with.

"They have recorded a CD of the music to help raise some money for the charity.

"We have had numerous good luck messages via social media and email from the cast of the Back to the Future film, wishing the children luck with their performance.

"Some cast members have even sent signed photos to the school.

"I believe these messages will create a truly magic moment for these children that would leave a lasting impression.

"The show is on Friday July 8 and Monday July 11, with the car in on the Monday only.

"I thought it might be nice to let the rest of the town about all of their hard work."
