The Bridgwater shop which supplies clothing, resources and gifts for the area’s Girlguiding Units and Scout Groups is looking for new premises.

Do you have a spare room within your premises you are prepared to offer them?

Currently the shop operates from a small room in Unity House, Dampiet Street and have just received notice from Labour Party H.Q. to find alternative accommodation. Something similar is being sought, preferably in or close to the town centre, from which to serve the needs of Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and their leaders.

As a charitable organisation, all help is on a voluntary basis and profit from the shop is put back in the two movements in the area.

The current Girlguiding Division treasurer and a previous shop organiser for a number of years, Rita Woodhouse, said that this has amounted to quite a few thousands pounds over the years since the shop opened.

The organisers are looking for a room of approximately 150 square feet in which they can store their stock with availability to call in to replace items about once a week.

They also wish to open the shop to the public between 10am and 12pm on Saturdays during term time which is about 40 weeks of the year.

Currently the shop pays a small monthly rental and are prepared to carry on doing so, although, being a charity, they are keen to keep expenses to the minimum.
