FAMILIES from across the south west were feeling revved up at a special truck-tastic event.

Both adults and children from across the region enjoyed a fantastic day out to Crealy, travelling in style as part of a 15 truck convoy.

Each summer the United Truckers put on the special event, taking children with Autism or Downs Syndrome for a day out.

There are four meet-up spots, Taunton, Andover, Chippenham and Radstock, who then meet up to form the large Children’s Convoy into Crealy. The event is called the Children’s Convoy, but Family members are also invited to join in with the celebrations.

The United Truckers is a group for haulage drivers that was first launched in 2003.

The aim of the group is to provide a social and charity group for truck drivers, and the club hosts a wide range of events throughout the year.

Over the past 13 years, the club has raised thousands of pounds for charity, and has donated to the children’s charity CLIC, Macmillan Nurses and the British Institute for Brain Injured Children.

The committee which started the club all had previous experience with clubs and therefore they knew exactly what the members wanted from their club. People also donate generously to help give the children ‘goodie bags’ for the trip to make the day extra special.
