A BRIDGWATER rock band have released a brand new music track after a year of preparation.

Cardinal Bay, a five piece all male group, are busy promoting their second EP, Answers, which was available to download from May 13.

The line-up consists of local boys Josh Rogers with vocals, George Hill on guitar, Dave Small on guitar, Jonny Dibble on bass and Matt Ward on drums.

Recorded at Bandit Studios, Answers is a song written about children growing up through parents divorce.

"Answers is our second EP but really it's our baby," said Jonny.

"We've given it our all and we all care so much about it.

"I think it shows how much we've grown as a band and as friends and we're really proud of the track.

"The EP is a year's worth of work- about nine months writing and the rest was solid studio time.

"The whole process has been amazing."

The band formed back in early 2014 and spent the following year on tours with Amaryllis, Lost Atlanta, Chasing Cadence and Breathe in the Silence, as well as supporting Funeral for a Friend and playing main stage at the UK's biggest youth music festival Butserfest.

The rest of this year is about 'pushing the new EP', says Jonny.

"We've got a busy time coming up," he said.

"The year ahead will see us pushing the new EP and doing as many gigs as we can.

"We'd also like to ideally work on the album we've already started.

"Being artists are what we most enjoy."

The Cardinal Bay boys met in their home town of Bridgwater, and all still live in the area.

"We all knew each other from the music scene and being in various other bands, as well as from school," Jonny added.

"I was a few years younger than the others at school and it's funny because I actually looked up to Josh a bit.

"He was in a band and I was as well.

"We all messaged each other and formed from there and now have a strong friendship group.

"It's great that we all live in Bridgwater as I know some bands where the musicians live all over the place.

"We're very lucky and the boys are so talented."

Answers is available now on iTunes and Spotify.
