A BRIDGWATER organisation is helping people with their health through diet and lifestyle classes.

Live Naturally held their first family exercise class at Wilstock Gardens on May 9.

The session incorporated warm up games, an obstacle course and fitness exercises.

After the session, a talk was given about staying healthy.

Solveig Curran, the leader of the group who has studied diet and nutrition, launched the course after her own child benefitted from a diet change.

Emma is a parent who attended the Live Naturally class.

She said: "I learnt about changing my lifestyle, with includes eating naturally, getting the sleep we need and exercise.

"My children all have various food intolerances and one of my daughters was suffering from asthma.

"After attending the courses I started eating natural foods and reducing the intake of sugar.

"On the course I learnt that its not good to remove food without replacing it with something with a higher nutritional value.

After a time of changing lifestyle, my daughter's asthma cleared up and the children started sleeping through the night.

Marie also attended a course three years ago, when one of her children was suffering from hyperactivity and behaviour issues.

She said: "I thought we had a balanced and healthy diet as we did not eat a lot of sweets and junk, but after the course I realised that my normal day to day food did contain a lot of additives.

"My son was always thirsty and wanted juice and squash all day long, and I had no idea it made him hyperactive.

"We took some supplements for three months and started cooking from scratch.

"Fish oil high in omega three really helped my child to not be so thirsty any more.

"It also helped him to calm down and concentrate.

"I now make food from natural, fresh ingredients, and my son is calm and happy."

If you have children suffering from food intolerances, health or behaviour issues, you can get help to regain health.

The next course about how food affects physical and mental health starts on June 9.

Live Naturally are are also running a family fitness sessions every Monday during term time, with the next held on June 6 at Wilstock Gardens, Rhode Lane.
