THE people of Bridgwater can find out about cancer information and support thanks to Macmillan Cancer Support’s mobile service.

The service is coming to the town on Tuesday May 10 where a team of specialists will be answering questions.

The service is open to anyone and is part of Dying Matters Awareness Week, taking place between the May 9 and 15.

While in Bridgwater, the Macmillan mobile team will be encouraging anyone affected by cancer to come and see them if they have questions or concerns.

The team can provide information on palliative and end of life care, advance care planning and local support services, among many other topics.

There is also information and support available for those who have been bereaved.

Mary Mountford-Lister, Macmillan Cancer information and support specialist on board the mobile unit, said: "Receiving a terminal diagnosis of cancer is a very emotionally difficult thing to deal with, for carers and loved ones as well as the patient.

"During what can be a confusing and distressing time, we want to make sure you have all the information and support you need.

"If you have questions you want answered or if you just want to talk, come and see us – no appointment is needed and anyone is welcome.

"We’re also here for anyone else affected by cancer, no matter what your worry on concern.

"We can provide information on a range of issues including different treatments, financial advice, exercise, getting back to work, or what local services might be on offer for you.

"You can even just stop by for a chat."

The four mobile information units travel around the UK visiting local communities.
