WOULD-BE life savers in Bridgwater can find out all about first aid from a St John Ambulance expert, at a course on Saturday, February 27.

In just three hours, the popular Essential First Aid for all ages training covers all of the basic skills needed to save a life – such as dealing with bleeding and choking – and help everyone from babies to adults.

Everyone who successfully completes the £25 (+VAT) session will get a certificate which lasts three years, together with a course book.

George Tarte, the charity’s community training coordinator for Somerset said: ‘We believe that nobody should die because they needed first aid and didn’t get it.

"Sadly, our research shows that fewer than one in five people in our area would know what to do in a medical emergency.

"Our courses are all about stopping people dying in situations where first aid could have given them a chance to live," Mr Tarte said.

"St John Ambulance teaches people first aid so that they can be the difference and you’re never too old, or too young to learn."

The next course is on Saturday February 27, from 9.30am to 12.30pm at St John House, Woodlands Business Park on Bristol Road.
