My name is Mike Temlett recently retired site manager of St John & St Francis Church School. After reading about the crossing in west street on face book I felt I had to write to you about this section of Westonzoyland Road.

First of all the zebra crossing outside of the school which also serves as the school crossing, a lot of drivers ignore this crossing even if you are stood there waiting, they will put there hand up to you, put one finger up to you, freeze at the wheel looking straight ahead or do not even see the crossing until it is to late, mainly because they are travelling to fast even the lollypop lady has problems sometimes.

The second problem is the road itself even though it is a 20 mph zone with speed and camera signs, vehicles travel closer to 40 or above HGVs being a big problem as there seems to be a lot more of them using this road now and when they come through at speed the house vibrates and the roof creeks even more so at night when the roads are quiet and they can go that much faster, when some come through slow you don't get the problem which just shows that it is the speed of the road.

As the SCC has a road safety programme this road seems to have been neglected what with a primary school and a old peoples home on it. The crossing needs up grading to either the beacon columns being lit like others in the town or better still turn it into a pedestrian controlled crossing which might help traffic calming also why is it all other main entry roads into the town have a visit from the police partnership camera van and this road never does even though its just as busy as the rest, is it possible to have it put into the rota. If you would like to have a talk to me about any of the above I would be more than happy to.
