Bridgwater Town Reserves 7 Yatton 0

BRIDGWATER Town Reserves ran riot at Fairfax Park on Saturday, thrashing Yatton 7-0 in a commanding performance.

Matt Connick scored twice for the Robins and there was one apiece for George Sinnott, Chris Young, Mike Duffy and Owen Sellick – an own goal accounted for the other.

Assistant manager, Dan Wright described the performance as ‘fantastic’ and said it was a clear example of the quality coming through the Town ranks.

He said: “It was a fantastic performance for everyone involved at the football club.

“It’s a real sign of the potential amongst the ranks and the quality coming through.

“Today was an example of what this team can do each week if the lads are ruthless in front of goal and capitalise on possession, territory and goal scoring opportunities.”

The first goal came eighteen minutes into the game when Matt Connick’s cross was turned into the net off of the Yatton defender.

Goal two came from Connick himself – picking the ball up on the edge of the area and striking the ball low and hard at the Yatton near post.

George Sinnott got his goal with an assist from Chris Young as the game approached half time.

Young was as ever a huge handful for any defence, playing with his back to goal, he turned the Yatton centre half and slid the ball into Sinnott’s path, who ran through on goal and tapped the ball past the Yatton keeper.

Yatton came out fighting in the second-half despite the 3-0 deficit, but Town soon began to add to their three goals, with the fourth coming from the left boot of Sinnott – crossing the ball behind the Yatton defence to find Young who poked the ball over the line.

Sinnott was again the provider in the fifth goal, pulling the ball back to substitute Mike Duffy who placed the ball in from the edge of the penalty area.

Connick got his brace with the sixth goal, out muscling the Yatton left back and running through on goal to strike to strike past the helpless Yatton goalkeeper.

Owen Sellick a substitute on for Alex Male, rounded a superb afternoon of football for the robins when he robbed the Yatton goalkeeper of possession, only then having to pass the ball into an empty net.
