THE new head boy and head girl of Haygrove School have been selected and are ready to take on their duties.
Sion Wilson and Ellie Newton, both in Year 11, were chosen by the head teacher, Karen Canham, after a thorough selection process.
The pair will now head up a team of more than 40 prefects at the school, in Durleigh Road, Bridgwater.
They will be supported by fellow students Felix Temple and Elloise Jarvis who will act as deputies for the oncoming academic year.
The team of prefects is expected to act as exemplary role models for the younger students at the school and help the new Year 7 pupils settle into school life.
The New head boy, Sion Wilson, said: “Applying to be head boy seemed like a natural next step for me.
“I felt I had already made a good contribution to school life which gave me a good understanding of what opportunities there are for students who come to Haygrove.”
New head girl, Ellie Newton, added: “I hope that by being head girl I will develop as a leader and gain experience of speaking publicly and working alongside lots of different people of all ages and backgrounds.
“I already feel a great sense of pride at being part of this year’s prefect team.”
