LAST week’s East Brent Harvest Home was judged to be a great success say the organisers. The main event was held in the marquee in the village but things got off to an early start last Friday with a church service followed by a mass meal served up by volunteer waiters organises by Betty Griffin. One of these volunteers was the former MP Tessa Munt who donned an apron to help serve up the three course meal prepared by villagers to the 40 or so diners.

The food included a salad of selected cold meats and locally grown lettuce and beetroot washed down with cider.

The event dates back to Victorian times and this year included music from the Burtle Silver Band along with a mini fairground live music in the evening from the New Society Jazz Band.
