A FORMER Bridgwater College student is leaping for the limelight as he continues his studies at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London.

Ashley Quinn, 20, is about to go into his third year at the prestigious school and already boasts a proud set of achievements.

In his first year, he was awarded singer of the year, gaining 95 per cent in his singing exam.

He repeated this the following year with an impressive 98 per cent, as well as recently finding out that he will take on the role of deputy head boy for his final year.

Ashley is keen to support the local area, and is singing at the official opening of the McMillan Theatre at Bridgwater College on September 21.

He was also involved with Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival up until he left from London.

Ashley said: “Living the dream is great. It’s hard work but definitely worth the effort.

“I work front of house for the Jersey Boys musical for eight shows a week, as well as training 8:30am until 6pm everyday. I have a more classical theatre voice and my aim is to go into West End musicals like Les Mis and Phantom of the Opera.

"At the end of the year we have a showcase at Italia Conti’s theatre in Clapham and I would love to get an agent out of that.”

Ashley attended Eastover Junior School and Chilton Trinity School, before applied to a few universities to study drama.

His mum persuaded him to apply to the Italia Conti, which he did, being awarded with a scholarship.

He is due to perform in Belgium, Scotland and in five London venues during October and November.

“He has a big baritone voice,” said his aunt Linda.

“He’s very talented and would do anything to help with the carnival and the local area,” said his aunt Linda.

Ashley’s story is one of hard work and determination and he hopes it will inspire others to follow their dream.
