THE popular walking and cycle path between North Petherton and Bridgwater is finally having work started on it next week.
The A38 route currently only has a narrow footpath and residents have expressed the need for it to be widened.
The track will be an important part of an off-road cycle and walk route all the way from Old Road in North Petherton to Bridgwater town centre.
It will provide 2.5 miles of walking and cycling facility which will be part of the existing 6.5 miles of planned routes from The Bridgwater Way.
Councillor David Hall, Cabinet Member Business Inward Investment & Policy, said: “This is an important development which responds to the needs of local people by providing safer routes for cyclists and walkers between North Petherton and Bridgwater. Although there will be some disruption, ultimately the end result will provide a much needed link between the two towns.”
