BLUSHING Bridgwater brides now have a one-stop shop when it comes to tying the knot.

The St Margaret’s Furniture shop in the High Street has opened a new Bridal Boutique on its top floor.

As well as stocking over 80 wedding dresses, it also sells jackets and ties for the bridegroom and hats for the mother of the bride.

It means happy Bridgwater couples can choose their wedding outfits upstairs and pick up a double bed on the way out.

Boutique manager Georgina Forrester said: “We only opened the boutique section on Monday but we have had over a dozen brides and their mums coming in.

“Our dresses are all pre-loved and range between £90 and £250 which is still considerably cheaper than buying new. Weddings are so expensive nowadays so we hope many brides will pop in to see our lovely and extensive range.”

St Margaret’s originally opened a bridal boutique at its Yeovil shop but after it folded all the stock was transferred to Bridgwater.

Now any dresses handed in across Somerset will end up in the High Street store. She added: “Maybe Bridgwater was chosen because people here are more romantic.

“We also have a large space upstairs which has been beautifully decorated and laid out so brides can feel relaxed and comfortable.

Our volunteers and staff will ensure brides find the perfect dress to make their big day just perfect.

“Many of our customers have said they did not feel they were in a charity shop, it was so lovely.

We also have links with seamstresses, photographers and even wedding cake producers, so we can offer a full service. All we need now is some confetti.”
