THE finale to the Bridgwater Way Project is set to light up the town with a Neon Bike Party early next month.

Organisers hope the final event of the project will provide an eye-catching celebration with those taking part encouraged to bring lights, reflectors, neon clothing and ‘glow in the dark’ accessories for the ride on Thursday, March 5.

Starting and finishing at Bridgwater Town Hall, a procession of children will precede the main Neon Bike Ride.

The event will also include a ‘Lighting up Workshop’ in the Town Hall where free fairy lights, reflectors and neon goodies will be provided to all participants.

The evening will then see a brightlycoloured procession set off at 6pm for a 30-minute parade, with bikes, scooters, wheelchairs and walkers encouraged to take part.

Following the bike ride all participants will be invited to a post-event celebration at the Town Hall, where refreshments will be available.

The event will also include some presentations and news about the project and future activities.

Cllr Harvey Siggs, Somerset County Council’s cabinet member for highways and transport, told the Mercury: “I am certain that this event will prove a wonderful way to celebrate The Bridgwater Way project.

“The work that has been achieved through physical infrastructure and community work is commendable and I know that local residents, communities and commuters to the town will feel the benefits for years to come.”

The Lighting Up Workshop will begin at 5pm. Anyone interested can sign up for free on the website at thebridgwater way.co.uk with spaces limited.
