THE Minister of State for Schools, David Laws MP, has congratulated the Somerset Bridge School in Bridgwater for being a top performer.

Head teacher Kevin Bryant received a letter from the Yeovil MP congratulating the school for being among the 100 top performing schools based on sustained improvement in attainment.

“To be identified within the top 100 of nearly 28,000 schools in England is an amazing achievement for our school,” he said in the school’s latest newsletter.

“I would like to thank all the staff, governors and pupils who have worked so hard to make this improvement.

“My thanks also go to all the parents and friends of the school who support the children enabling them to achieve so well.”

Meanwhile, the school’s nursery is celebrating being given a ‘good’ rating by Ofsted inspectors.
