JOB SEEKERS are urged to attend a workshop on employment opportunities at the proposed Hinkley C nuclear power plant.

Sedgemoor District and West Somerset Council’s Employment and Skills staff are working together to host the events to ensure local workers maximise opportunities at the site, which is set to be the biggest construction project in Europe.

The first is next Monday from 10.30am to noon at the EDF Visitor Centre in Angel Place, Bridgwater.

The free workshop will cover the Hinkley story so far, the variety of jobs needed, how to get registered with the Hinkley Point C Jobs Service and hands-on support to check that CVs are ‘Hinkley-ready’.

The workshop is free to attend but booking is essential as spaces are limited.

One-to-one support sessions with employment and skills staff can be booked after the workshop.

To book a space on the workshop or a one-to-one support session call the EDF Visitor Centre on 01278-429225 or drop-in during opening hours.

The EDF Visitor Centre is open Monday to Friday 9.30am until 4pm, and 9.30am until 1pm on Saturdays.

A similar event is being planned in West Somerset in the near future.
