THOUSANDS of people gathered in the heart of Bridgwater for the annual Christmas lights switch-on.
The Snowflakes and Shopping event saw shops in the town stay open late, an extended market and plenty of quality entertainment.
Snowflakes and Shopping competition winner Graham Grief took part in the display and the winner of the junior category, Fern Hopkins, switched on the Christmas lights.
A spectacular squibbing display was held after the grand switch-on, lighting up the night sky.
One of those who took part was John Brown, who won a Mercury competition to take his place with the squibbers.
