THE South-West’s regional organised crime unit, ‘Zephyr’, has made arrests as far afield as Scotland as part of an ongoing probe into courier fraud.
Detectives from Zephyr were joined by officers from Police Scotland to execute search warrants on homes in Glasgow.
These were the first arrests made north of the border, following arrests in the South West and East London.
Police arrested a 43-year-old woman and 23-year-old man on suspicion of conspiracy to commit fraud and moneylaundering offences and also seized a high value car and significant amount of cash during searches of homes.
DI Tony Hubbard of Zephyr said: “What concerns us is that we believe the 300 people spread across the South- West who have been duped out of more than £2m may be the tip of the iceberg with many too embarrassed to report that they have been conned but we want people to be reassured by this action."
