A MAN has been taken to hospital after he wass hit by a car in Brook Street in Cannington earlier this morning (Wednesday).
As a result Brook Street has been closed by police between Fore Street and East Street and the A39.
Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson Wayne Baker told the Mercury: "Police were called to the scene at 7.15am to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian."
The male pedestrian was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton with serious leg and face injuries and the female driver of the car was treated at the scene for shock.
Police are still at the scene and the road is expected to be closed for some time.
