A MOTORCYCLIST was taken to hospital with severe head injuries after he was thrown from his bike at Burrowbridge in the early hours of Saturday.

Fire crews, an ambulance and police found the rider had been thrown into a garden at Burrow Wall in the accident which did not involve any other vehicles.

The motorcyclist was conscious but had suffered severe head injuries and a fractured leg after veering through a hedge.

Paramedics worked under lighting provided by the fire crew and moved the casualty onto a spinal board before taking him to Musgrove Park Hospital.

The man was later transferred to South Mead Hospital in Bristol due to the nature of his injuries.
