SOMERSET Youth and Community Sailing Association has passed the first round of scrutiny in its application for money from the Hinkley Point C Community Impact Mitigation (CIM) Fund.

The group, which is based at Durleigh Reservoir, has asked for £9,600 from the multi-million pound fund to purchase four new dinghies, covers and trollies to enable the association to provide additional sailing places for young people.

The Planning Obligations Board recommended the proposal for approval on the basis that it complied with the criteria set out in the legal agreement and the Board also sought conformation that the dinghies would be retained.

A final decision will be given when the application is put to the full West Somerset Council Cabinet.
