A MOTHER is organising an afternoon of children’s fun to help raise awareness of autism and similar conditions.

Kas Drewett is hosting the event at the Seagull Inn in Brean so families and carers for children with autism can enjoy a day with others in a similar situation.

Kas said: “We’re hoping it will be somewhere for the kids to come and just have fun.

“We’ve organised children’s entertainers including a magician, to perform so hopefully they’ll have a really good time.

“Plus the parents can come along and relax a bit.”

There will also be a collection to raise funds for the National Autism Society and the Escape Support Group, who provide support for families caring for children with autism.

Kas said: “We really just want to raise as much awareness and funds for the charities as we can.

“We want people in the same situation to know there are others willing to offer support and provide the kids with somewhere that they can come and have a good time without getting the stares and comments.”

Kas, whose seven-year-old son, Callum, has xyy syndrome and autism meaning he needs 24-hour care, will be hosting the event at the Seagull Inn, Brean, this Saturday from 2pm-5pm.

Tickets cost £3 and can be purchased on the door with all the proceeds going to charity.
