HAYGROVE School students were in it for the long haul after taking part in a 24-hour mighty music rehearsal marathon to raise money for the school’s new music centre.
The young musicians and singers gathered at 7pm, sleeping bags in hand, ready to play in shifts all night and all day until the start of their concert the following evening.
Ranging from folk to jazz and brass, the music was described by staff as “electric and inspiring”.
The school band was enticed to compose its own heavy metal song called ‘I’m Not Going Crazy’ which Mr Whiteoak, head of music, soon began singing along to.
After a bacon sandwich for breakfast, cooked for students and staff by food technology teacher Mrs Hardmann, the students continued through the day until they finally climbed onto the stage to perform for their assembled audience of parents, friends and school staff.
