A GROUP of year nine students from Ansford Academy enjoyed a foreign language taster session at a nearby college.
The budding learners attended Bridgwater College for a lesson in Russian – one experience to add to their CV.
All the students had some experience of learning French, German and Spanish but this was their first try at tackling a language incorporating an entirely new alphabet.
Overall, the students learnt 33 new letters and were able to write their names using the Cyrillic alphabet.
“They also learnt some facts about Russia and looked at a Russian tea–urn, a samovar, and traditional Russian hats.
Tom Hockaday, head of languages at Ansford Academy, said: “The session was brilliant and the kids got so much out of it.”
