PUPILS in Stogursey have taken part in a new and exciting way to read poetry – by using mobile devices to reveal the words.

Author Christopher Jelley has created ‘QR Code Poetry along the Coleridge Way’ by placing QR barcodes along the walking path, each of which reveals more and more of the poem.

Visitors have to scan the codes using an app on their Android and Apple devices to complete the poem.

Christopher has been working with pupils at Stogursey Primary School and other schools in the South-West to ‘harvest’ words for his poems for the spring 2014 trail along most of the 51-mile path.

Class teacher Lisa Dunwood said: “We went up there in January with Christopher to get inspiration for words and phrases for when we returned to school.

“We made the poems so that Christopher could take them away and create the QR codes. They loved it and it was a really nice thing to do.”
