Bridgwater Mercury: Maria Eagle MP visits Moorland Maria Eagle MP visits Moorland

SHADOW Environment Secretary Maria Eagle MP visited Moorland to speak to flood victims.

She made the visit with Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Bridgwater Mick Lerry and Cllr Julian Taylor, who was displaced from his home in February and is still waiting to return.

Ms Eagle said: “Four months on from the flooding the resourceful people here on the Somerset Levels are still cleaning up after what were unprecedented circumstances.

“The Prime Minister’s money no object claim is certainly not the reality on the ground – people have been let down and have seen little evidence of the support they were promised.”

Your report paints a picture, that little or nothing is happening, many properties are well into the stages of, repair, with Damaged Plaster and rendering removed, dryers put in to the properties to de- humidify, so that the new render and plaster can be replaced.
I am aware of one bungalow, that is ready to move back into, new kitchen,
Bathroom/shower room installed by the volunteers, financed from the Flood relief Fund, as this person, had no buildings insurance in place due to an oversight.
There is money available, and the hands on Help, is and still is there to assist residents, where needed. One, also has to understand that many of the residents were insured and therefore, are not in need of financial assistance, awaiting their own insurances to fund and rectify the properties.
As most residents, realise to dry out the properties, in order to start the renovation required takes time, and if started before ready then the plaster would only blow and need replacing again.
I'm sure Cllr Julian Taylor, had insurance in place, so to make this a story for the Shadow Lab Minister to visit the area, is just " Photo Opportunities".
There, has been help there, for the residents, for those who are in need, there is a further fund of £200.000 from our Masonic Flood Appeal Fund, collected from Masons within the Region and from Grand Lodge Charitable Fund UK. For distribution, to those who are unfortunate to find themselves in dire circumstances, with no insurance cover to assist.

Freddie you are really an idiot !! You are incapable of making a comment on this forum that is constructive, grow up, and put some long trousers on, then I might take you seriously, but then I expect that will be impossible in your case, sad case !!

I was taught not to mock the afflicted, but in your case, it is difficult not to.
