TWO teams from the Bridgwater area will battle it out in a charity football match in aid of the Children’s Hospice.

Staff from Sedgemoor Crematorium will play against a team combination of Bridgwater Town Ladies and U18s at Bridgwater College on Saturday, July 5, for the South West charity that provides support for terminally ill children and their families.

Players, guests and friends are all welcome to join the teams after the match at the Robin Club, Bridgwater, for Race Night and a chance to catch the World Cup match.

The charity match kicks off at 2.30pm with evening events from 7.30pm.

Matt Foster, of Sedgemoor Crematorium, said: “We did a Christmas Carol service at the crematorium where we raised money for the children’s hospice.”

Corrinne Gillard, from Bridgwater Town Ladies, said: “It was a joke at first; I play for Bridgwater so I said we’d play them in a match and it ended up happening. We’ll be fundraising throughout the day and people can sponsor those involved at Race Night after the match.”
