A COUPLE have been left with mixed emotions after selling their flood-affected home at auction for half its original value.

Christine and Carroll Gray sold their bungalow and stables in Horlake, last week for £175,000.

The bungalow was in need of some major refurbishment after being submerged in floodwater which devastated many homes in Moorland. The couple, who are renowned racehorse trainers, spoke to ITV national news after the auction.

Carroll said: “I’m not quite sure the money we’ve got from today is going to buy us a hell of a lot but I guess the only thing you can say is that we should be able to sleep at night without the worry of being flooded.”

Mr and Mrs Gray’s bungalow, stables and three-and-a-half acres of land, were among 33 lots sold last Wednesday, many of which failed to fetch more than £60,000.
