TWO homes are to be built on the site of an old skittle alley in North Petherton.
Sedgemoor’s planning committee gave permission for the skittle alley at the Swan Inn, 68 Fore Street, to be demolished and for two homes to be built in its place.
Permission was granted, subject to the applicant, Claybrook, signing a Section 106 agreement to secure financial contributions towards Policies RLT2 and RLT3.
The applicant said in a statement: “We consider the proposed development to be sympathetic to the scale and nature of the site.
“The semi-detached houses have been designed to suit the scale and character of the location, using traditional materials, namely, stone, brick and pan-tiles. Responding to the planning officer’s comments, we have adopted a fully hipped roof.
“To avoid any overlooking concerns to the eastern side of the property obscured glazing would be used in the high level windows.
“It is a very sustainable location for housing.”
