Volunteers still helping out in flood-hit Somerset

SOMERSET Emergency Volunteers have been working in conjunction with FLAG to clear homes in flood-hit areas ready for building work to start.

Volunteer Craig Rushmere, from Dorset, said: “I’ve been helping out since February. We’re still helping to clear items to make way for the builders. Many people who have not been here think it’s over. But it’s not.”

FLAG has been working with property development business Willmott Dixon, which is carrying out work for free at properties which don’t have insurance or where an insurance claim was rejected.
