A SERIOUS assault on a 20-year-old man in Bridgwater in the early hours of this morning is being investigated by the police.
At about 2.20am, the victim was walking along Albert Street, close to the junction with Halswell Close, when he was assaulted by two men.
He suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital, where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
Investigating officer Det Con Kelly-Ann Holdsworth said: “The scene has been cordoned off and we are carrying out numerous enquiries, which will include reviewing CCTV footage
“The victim has suffered some potentially life-changing injuries to his face.
“We are issuing descriptions of two men we would like to speak to. The first is white, in his mid twenties, about 6ft, of stocky build with short spikey hair. He was wearing a dark coloured t-shirt and jeans.
“The second man is described as mixed race, 6ft, of medium build, with short curly hair. He was wearing a dark jacket and black trousers or jeans.
“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or has information on who was responsible, to call us.”

The assault happened last night on the corner of Albert Street and Halswell Close. Police say the incident wasn’t as bad as they initially thought.
