A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD Bridgwater girl who refused to go to the hairdresser is now having her hair cut to be made into a wig for cancer patients.

Shannon O’Reilly’s hair, which has grown halfway down her back, will be cut several inches shorter and be donated to children recovering from cancer treatment.

Shannon, who goes to Bridgwater College Academy, had refused to have her hair cut – but she was inspired by the thought of helping others after her great grandmother died of cancer in November.

Joanne O’Reilly, Shannon’s mum, said: “When her great nana passed away of cancer in November I told her she could help little kids by donating her hair to make wigs for poorly girls and boys. From that moment she was right into it and so excited about her special hair cut.”

Generous Shannon, who lives in Sydenham, is organising a special event on the day she gets her hair cut to raise money for the Little Princess Trust.

Her locks will be lopped off on Saturday morning (May 31) when Shannon will be selling cakes and raffle tickets ... with a little help from family and friends of course.

Shannon will also be collecting donations for her trim at Hair Creations in Sydenham and showing off her long hair from 9am before it finally gets cut at 10.30am.

Her locks will be donated to the Little Princess Trust to make real-hair wigs for boys and girls across the UK and Ireland who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

All the funds raised will also go towards the Little Princess Trust.
