BRIDGWATER Swimming Club has grown so much in popularity that it has appointed a deputy head coach and increased its time in the pool.

Ange Robertson has a long association with swimming in Somerset and first began coaching swimming with Bridgwater Swimming Club many years ago, when her daughter swam for the club.

Since then she has extended her coaching and teaching experience in a range of positions, such as a swimming teacher at Burnham Swim and Sports Academy and a member of the teaching team of the successful learn to swim programme at Trinity Sports and Leisure in Bridgwater.

Club chairman Don Symes said: “Ange has coached many talented swimmers and worked with some very experienced coaches, and is held in high regard as a talented and committed coach throughout the county.

“It is hoped that Ange’s appointment will further strengthen the strong links already developed with our local pool operator 1610 Leisure and help to encourage more swimmers take up competitive swimming in Bridgwater.”

The club has also increased pool time by adding a further weekly session for both squad swimmers and the upper levels of the Junior Squad.

Mr Symes added: “This is the second time the club has extended pool time or pool space in 12 months and demonstrates the club’s commitment to grow and develop in a sustainable manner.

“The club has seen membership grow and new enquiries increase over the past 12 months since swimming has returned to Bridgwater.”
