POLICE in Bridgwater are heading a massive operation targeting people who are using the town’s roads as a racetrack.
Officers will be using number plate recognition technology in various patrols over the summer as part of Operation Goodwood, focusing on four key driving offences.
PC Sam Iddon, of Bridgwater Police, said: “We call them the Fatal Four – not using seatbelts, using a phone while driving, speeding and drink-driving.
“We’re targeting antisocial behaviour through driving offences and will be relentless in doing so.
“Anyone caught racing or being anti-social in their cars could see their cars seized and crushed.”
The crackdown comes in response to feedback and concerns raised by parishioners and businesses.
