THE stories of First World War soldiers buried in Wembdon Road Cemetary will be told on a guided tour.
The Friends of Wembdon Road Cemetery will hold a walking tour to commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of the war.
Some 27 servicemen are buried at the cemetery with 21 more commemorated.
The tour will remember the sacrifice of the likes of Bridgwater man Walter Roman, mortally wounded on the first day of the Battle of the Somme, which was also his birthday – he was a household name before the war, having played rugby for England.
The tour starts at 11am on Sunday (May 25) – for details call Bernice Lashbrook on 01278-459659.
